Barbara Sousa has been of counsel for Masserman & Ducey, LLP since 2010.  Her law practice over the past 27 years has concentrated in the areas of labor and employment, business litigation, complex litigation, education, intellectual property, and appellate litigation.

 

Barbara is a native of Los Angeles and attended the University of California at Los Angeles, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in English.  She graduated from Loyola Law School with her Juris Doctor magna cum laude in 1994.  In law school Barbara was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as the Production Editor for the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review.

 

Barbara specialized in employment law at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker from 1995 to 1996, then moved to Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom where she expanded her employment practice from 1996 to 2005.  For the past several years Barbara has consulted with a wide array of corporate and individual clients, and she is often asked to consult with clients and administrative agencies on employment and accounting matters, and compliance with State licensing laws.  Barbara’s primary appellate experience has been in the areas of wage and hour law, class actions, discrimination, and harassment in the workplace.

 

In her free time Barbara is an avid college football, basketball and women’s gymnastics fan with a long-standing rooting interest in UCLA and Villanova University.  Barbara enjoys creative endeavors having written novels herself and immersing herself in reading fiction.
